Florida crops sold in record 12,357 stores

More than 40 types of Florida fruits, vegetables, citrus and other products are sold in the U.S. and other countries, the agriculture department said.

More than 4,000 of the retailers selling Florida agricultural products are outside the U.S., Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam said in a statement.

Canada had the most stores — 1,824 — that sold Florida fruits, vegetables, citrus and other products. Scandinavia was second with 724 stores and South Korea third with 507.

Palm Beach County is an important part of the state's agriculture sector. It's the largest agriculture-producing county east of the Mississippi River. It leads the nation in the production of sugar cane, sweet corn and sweet bell peppers, according to county data.
