Khalifa Fund empowering UAE agriculture

Abu Dhabi - Senior delegates from Chefs and heads of Procurements in Abu Dhabi hotels visited number of farms under Zaarie program, which was launched by Khalifa Fund lately to support and empower the Emiratis working in agriculture sector inside UAE.

Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development and Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Tourism organized this visit in order to introduce Zaarie products of Chiefs and heads of procurements in Abu Dhabi main hotels.

Ahmed Khalfan Al Romaithi the Manager of Zaarie Program in Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development said, "The visit includes four farms in Al Khatem& Beda Fares where the delegates see the quality of the agriculture products which are very high quality but with competitive prices".

"The farms are able to cover big parts of the market's needs from cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce as well as some kinds of fruits. The Fund is working currently on finding the best solutions for the logistics issues by encouraging the farmers themselves to adopt the group solution that save time, effort & cost for farmers", added Al Romaithi.

"The program aims to empower the Emiratis working in agriculture sector and to help them to develop their farms through encouraging them to use the best technology and to spread the non-traditional methods of farming to reduce water consumption", explained Al Romaithi.

"The Fund will supports the farmers who are interested in transforming to the modern farming by using the hydroponic techniques, to reduce water consumption in Abu Dhabi.
