Greek fruit and vegetable exports to Egypt, with apples as the main product, are on the rise, according to data revealed to Agrotypos by the General Director of Finance and Business Affairs Office (ISD) of the Greek embassy in Cairo, Mr Athanassios Makrandreou.
He stated that "total Greek exports to Egypt for the first 9 months of 2014 (January - September), compared to the corresponding 9 months of 2013, have increased by 30.6%.
Greek apples held 18% of the Egyptian market and their value amounted to 29.2 million Euro. In total, Egypt purchased 9.7 million tonnes of apples worth 156.6 million Euro in 2013.
