EU strengthens anti-dumping measures

The European Commission has finally agreed on a European Regulation for the enforcement of anti-dumping measures against canned mandarin imports from China for a period of five years. The regulation has been published in the Official Journal of the EU.

The introduction of the regulation is perceived as a success for the National Federation of Processed Vegetables and Foods (FENAVAL), as it will contribute to the recovery of the Spanish canning industry, which has been affected by the massive imports from China at prices it couldn't compete with.

The measure will be beneficial for the agricultural sector in the Spanish regions of Valencia and Murcia, where over 5,000 people are employed seasonally in packaging and the supply of raw materials for the industry.
