Hungary: Considerable drop in fruit and vegetable prices compared to 2013

According to Hungary's Central Statistical Office, agricultural producer prices have dropped considerably between January and September 2014 compared to the same period last year.

Fruit prices have registered a 17.8% drop compared to 2013. Plums are 6.8% cheaper and apple prices are 35.4% lower compared to September last year.

Meanwhile, the price of fresh vegetables has dropped by 8.3% compared to September 2013. Within this product group, tomatoes, green peppers and sweet corn have registered the sharpest drops.

Furthermore, potato prices are currently 23.1% lower than a year earlier.
