Canada: Safeway comes out on top in grocery prices comparison for November
The price comparison was done by home economist Sylvia Kong as part of an ongoing series on price checks aired monthly on CTV.
Once a month, CTV creates a grocery list and compare prices at major Calgary stores. The prices are a snapshot on the given day.
Grocery Basket November
All coupons and membership programs are included and some chains vary prices from store to store.
CTV priced out 32 items at the Shawnessy Safeway, Shawnessy Co-op, Millrise Sobeys, and Shawnessy Superstore.
The best deal was at Safeway, where the grocery basket cost $109.45. The same goods bought at Co-op cost $116.09. At Superstore, it cost $117.94. And it was most expensive to shop at Sobeys, where the grocery basket cost $120.14.
Best buys this week:
Assorted Winter Squash - $1.06/kg - Superstore
Red Cabbage - $1.08/kg - Co-op
Sweet Potatoes - $1.72/kg - Safeway
