Ahold launches promotions in the US, online development in Netherlands

Netherlands-based Ahold has announced strategic developments at its operations in the US – with its Giant Landover chain launching a new value campaign – and in its home market – where it is expanding its range online and enhancing the offer through Bol.com.

Giant Landover promotion highlights savings on offer
The campaign is divided between highlighting the new everyday low prices available on a wide range of items and the relaunch of its ‘Bonus Buy’ programme, which offers temporary price reductions. Alongside the price savings, Giant Landover is also communicating in-store around how it has also enhanced its fresh, upscale, local and ethnic product lines and bolstered its range with new items. The enhancements are part of Ahold US’s implementation of the retailer’s corporate Reshaping Retail strategy, which was recently discussed by James McCann.

Albert Heijn adds to online range with Belgian products
Using its Belgium-based operations and growing buying power in the market, Albert Heijn has announced that it has added 700 products that were previously only available in its Belgium stores to its online offer in the Netherlands. If successful, the ranges could be added to stores in the Netherlands that are close to its border with Belgium.
