Spain: Castile-La Mancha closes first semester with record export figures

The councillor of Agriculture of Castile-La Mancha's regional government, María Luisa Soriano, congratulated the region's businesses and agricultural cooperatives, "whose efforts and good work have led to closing the first half of 2014 with record export figures."

In Villanueva de los Infantes (Ciudad Real), during a visit to the Cooperative Horticultural La Moraleja, Maria Luisa Soriano stressed that between January and June this year, Castile-La Mancha's food product exports totalled 863.6 million Euro, a record figure.

The councillor of Agriculture said that "our businesses and agricultural cooperatives are showing great confidence in their abilities, which leads them not to settle with the record figures they have been achieving for several years, but to continue breaking those records each quarter and maintaining their international focus."

Between January and June 2014, food exports have increased by 3.3% over the first half of last year, thanks to the more than 155 million Euro invoiced in the month of June, which bring the total generated so far in the year to more than 863.3 million Euro.

By subsectors, beverages reached 380 million Euro; meat products, 136 million; fruits, vegetables and legumes, 111 million; fish, 7 million; and other food products, 226 million.

The councillor also highlighted the positive trade balance, with a difference between exports and imports soaring to 308 million Euro; 9.5% more than in the first half of 2013.
