Russia: Kuban vineyards harvest 12,500 tonnes of grapes

In grape provinces of Krasnodar Territory farmers are now harvesting table grapes, as well as champagne and cognac varieties of grapes.

The total area of the Kuban vineyards is 26,800 hectares. This is 34% of the vineyards in the country which produce more than half of Russian grapes. Last year, the gross harvest of grapes in the Kuban region equalled 201,800 tonnes.

The leader of the Kuban vineyards is Temryuk with an area of 18 700 hectares. Then come Anapa and Novorossiysk with 3,400 and 2,000 ha respectively. 92 grape varieties are cultivated in the region.
