The important cooperation and development agreement signed between the European Union and Ecuador aims to improve trade relations between the two parties.
Regarding the agreement, Eduardo Ledesma Garcia, head of the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador said: "The agreement will favour all of the productive sectors as they will be able to enter the European Union with competitive tariffs. The banana sector, the main supplier to the European market, is extremely happy, satisfied and grateful to the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Ambassador Betancourt because of the work they've done," said Ledesma Garcia.
"We used to have a 60 cent tariff and, as I understand it, now, it will be much lower and this will allow us to grow more and improve our competitiveness in relation to Colombia and other producers," he said.
