Aldi buys land in South Florida

It looks as though Aldi is adding another South Florida location to its fleet.

Aldi Florida, the Haines City-based affiliate of the German grocer, bought 2.27 acres, or 98,881 square feet of property from Wellington-based company Absolute Holdings of South Florida.

Purchased for $2.25 million, the vacant lots are next to each other at 1111 and1121 N State Road 7 in Royal Palm Beach.

The site is nearly the size of Aldi's typical development space of 2.5 acres for a 17,000-square-foot store and lot space for a minimum of 85 cars. An Aldi representative was not immediately available for comment Thursday.
