Ukraine: Average price for fresh apples down for 2nd season in a row
The negative price trend has been observed in the Ukrainian apple market for the second season in a row. The market experts connect a decrease in prices with both higher domestic production and worse external trade environment.
Ukraine's exports of apples have been decreasing since 2012 due to high competition in Russia, the main importer of Ukrainian apples. According to the official statistics, Ukraine exported about 30,000 tons of fresh apples to the Russian Federation. However, exports have not reached even 10,000 tons in the season 2013/14.
