"Ukraine: "Retail Group" source fruit, vegetable supply directly from Spain"
According to the press service, the main goal of cooperation with European fruit and vegetables producers is to provide the customer with quality products until they are in season in Ukrainian.
"The second, but equally important factor for today is a competitive price. Thanks to direct supply, without intermediaries, Spanish imports will be cheaper than similar products from other market players," – the statement said.
An important competitive advantage of European fruit and vegetables for the company is their freshness: it takes just up to seven days to deliver products from the fields to retail sales counters.
According to the press service, lemons, oranges, kiwi, mango, assorted tomatoes and peppers, cauliflower and eggplants have been already delivered to the company’s grocery retailers. Summer fruits and berries: apricots, nectarines, peaches and cherries, are expected to be supplied shortly.
As reported, "Retail Group’s" net income increased by 2, 9% and amounted to almost 4.6 billion UAH (283.3 ml €) in 2013.
PJSC "Retail Group" was established in 2005. By 25th April 2014 the company has run retail chains "Velmart" (14 hypermarkets in 12 cities), "Velika Kyshenya" (41 supermarket in 17 cities), "Prosto Market" (Lutsk), VK SELECT (four premium stores in Kiev ) and "VK Expres" (eight stores in Kyiv) in Ukraine, as well as a chain of supermarkets "Green Hills Market" and one hypermarket "Velmart" in Moldova.
