The new rail shuttle from Herik Rail connects the port of Amsterdam directly through the Alps. Now fresh flowers from Aalsmeer, agricultural products, fish from IJmuiden, but also electronics or pharmaceuticals e.g can be transported directly to Milan and Italian leather goods make their way back to Amsterdam. The new Amsterdam-Milan railway connection offers companies which export to or import from Italy new opportunities.
The new direct rail shuttle to Milan offers a perfect alternative for road transport to Northern Italy. Companies no longer have to depend on trucks which have to deal with traffic jams, waiting times at the border, nightly driving bans and ever increasing prices of diesel. In addition to this, transport by train is much more sustainable. C02-emissions are only a fraction of those of road transportation.
