According to the latest data processed by FruitImprese, the import/export trend of the first nine months of 2013 are similar to what happened in the latest months: decrease of exported volumes by 10.7% and increase of imported ones (5.8%) with respect to the same period in 2012. Values are positive in both fields.
Exports of vegetables (-1.8%) and fresh fruit (-16.1%) are decreasing, whereas citrus fruit (+1.2%) and dried fruit (+4.6%) are doing well. The value is positive for all sectors - vegetables +14%, citrus fruit +32.4%, fresh fruit +1.2% and dried fruit +6.8%.

As regards imports, Italy bought around 2.49 million tonnes of produce for a total value of €2.31 billion (+14.3%).
Amongst the single sectors, citrus fruit (+7.3%), vegetables (+3.9%), fresh fruit (+10.9%) and tropical fruit (+10.9%) are doing well, but not dried fruit (-1%). Positive value for all sectors.
