Chilean fruit exporters would lose about $30 million dollars because of the new requirements that Peru’s Senasa is making for the importation of apples.
An estimated 40,000 tons of apples would be stranded "due to the pests emerging in Chile that would place the Peruvian production at a phytosanitary risk," according to Senasa.
According to the newspaper "The Star of Africa", the country’s intendant accompanied by apple exporters would be meeting with the central government to learn about the problems they have been facing that also involve the production of tomatoes.
