US: United Supermarkets' parent company changes name
A company news release indicated the new name is part of a sweeping rebranding effort involving each of the store lines. “We wanted to draw some distinction between the company name and the retail brand,” said Eddie Owens, United’s director of communications.
Robert Taylor, United Family of Stores chief executive officer, said, “Our business has become more and more competitive, with new stores and formats offering very compelling alternatives for food shopping.” Taylor continued, “It’s vital to our future success that we let current and future guests know who we are and what we stand for. We have to make sure we offer our guests things that are relevant to them and their shopping needs.”
In addition, the corporate identity is reflected in two new logos — one using the name “The United Family” and listing the grocery business’ four retail operations and another that also lists the company’s three supporting subsidiaries.
Those subsidiaries include R.C. Taylor Distributing, the Prater’s prepared foods business and Llano Logistics.
