"We started in the year 2000 with certification services for agriculture and in 2007 we began offering management and control services making use of VisualNacert technology (www.visualnacert.com), which made it possible to visualize information about protected varieties, including their geographical location and all associated information," explains Mercedes Iborra, Marketing Manager of Norma Agrícola.
VisualNacert integrates all kinds of up to date maps, Web Server and databases, allowing for a total mobility of the information, as according to Mercedes Iborra, "with any mobile device, whether tablet, mobile phone or PC, it is possible to access the entire history of records of the plantations.
"Not only is it possible to know where the plantation is located on the map, but also who the grower is and all his/her data (what is produced, what characteristics it has, what is its yield and productivity, etc.); information which is truly relevant and necessary for business nowadays in the agricultural sector."
We are therefore talking about complete visual traceability. The information is transmitted from individuals to entire groups, preventing the loss of information typically derived from using intermediaries. This way, "even if a broker, middleman or technician goes to another company, all his/her knowledge about the plantations remain within the organization itself," added Mercedes.
VisualNacert is a useful service for managers of protected varieties, exporters, producer associations, packers, etc. "We detected that there was a need in the market to know the exact location of plantations and find out their impact on a global scale, which in addition to some more general information, provide a broader view about the business."
Although this service originated in Spain, VisualNacert has been in Chile for three years. "We went to Chile because it is a very agricultural country and a great exporter with a truly professionalized sector, and we saw the need to incorporate the new technologies. Chile's Government called for technological firms in various sectors and ours was chosen for the agricultural sector," explains Mercedes Iborra. "This was due to Chile's international positioning, increasing its presence in countries such as Colombia, Peru and Brazil and managing to enter the United States market, with many clients in California, where a pact was signed with the University of Davis."
"We are noticing an increase in the use and demand for this service, and after the enlargement of our commercial team, we have good growth prospects in the short term, both in Spain and the new markets. We can supply this service anywhere in the world," concludes Mercedes Iborra.
