The French group Carrefour has partnered with the African distribution company CFAO aiming to expand its presence in Africa, as was explained in a statement by the French company.
Specifically, the two entities have signed a memorandum of understanding to create a joint venture, of which the CFAO has 55% and the French operator owns the remaining interest.
The new joint venture will develop a number of store formats in eight countries of western and central Africa. In this sense, it will have the exclusive right to open stores under the banner Carrefour in Cameroon, Congo, Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal.
"Carrefour, which has a presence in more than 30 countries, will bring to society its experience as a Multiformat distributor, as well as its brand strength. CFAO, which has a strong presence in Africa, will bring their deep knowledge of these markets with local consumption habits," said the French group.
