AU: Metcash kicks off major IGA campaign

Metcash has launched one of its biggest marketing campaigns for the IGA supermarket banner, aiming to concentrate shopper attention on their favourite brands. The A$10m campaign will be fronted by personality Anh Do, and will focus on how independent retailers are a critical part of their local communities.

The campaign will run in television, digital media, catalogue and at POS in the 1,400 IGA stores over the next year. Metcash noted: “We are making this major investment to ensure shoppers know IGA stores, which are owned and operated by locals, are places that care enough to stock brands they want.”

The wholesaling giant added: “The media is full of stories at the moment of the chains forcing suppliers’ products off their shelves to be replaced with home or corporate brands. We explain through our marketing campaign, that independent retailers do not work that way. We would rather deliver brands that consumers want, not what they are encouraged to buy”.

The campaign continues IGA’s proposition of ‘how the locals like it’.
