Sweden is the best market for Spanish vegetables in terms of price paid followed by Belgium and Italy. Germany, the largest customer, ranks fourth.
Of the top ten customers in the Community, Sweden, at an average price of 1.122 Euro per kilo, was the country that paid the best for Spanish vegetables in 2012, according to data prepared by Hortoinfo for the Spanish Federation of Producers and Exporters of Fruits, Vegetables, and Flowers Live Plants (FEPEX).
In that year, the Scandinavian country bought a total of just over 94 million kilos from Spain, for which they paid a little over 105 million Euro.
In the ranking of the top ten, Belgium ranks second, with a price of 1.040 Euro per kilo and a total of 93.5 million kilos. In third place is Italy, which paid 0.985 Euro per kilo of Spanish vegetables of which they bought 214.54 million kilos.
Germany, the largest customer of Spanish vegetables with 998.67 million kilos, paid an average price of 0.966 Euro per kilo, thus attaining fourth in the ranking. France came fifth, with a price of 0.923 euro per kilo and a total of 706.18 million kilos. The UK, at 0.921 Euro per kilo and with purchases of 672.65 million kilos ranks sixth. The Netherlands with an average price of 0.911 Euro / kg and imports for 525.05 million of kilos is seventh. Poland with 0.919 Euro / kg. and 144.75 million of kilos ranks eighth. The Czech Republic, with 0.897 Euro / kg and 80.24 million kilos ranks in ninth place and, finally, in the tenth position is Portugal, which paid the vegetables (241.98 million kilos) at a price of 0.429 Euro per kilo.
