Robert Vogel, Vogel AGF:

"Netherlands: "Stable cauliflower market"

The cauliflower sales have been quite stable for the last few weeks. "The supply from France is at around 60,000/70,000 packages at the moment, and that is pretty normal. Spain does have a bit more cauliflower than in the past few years," says Robert Vogel of Vogel AGF. The first Dutch cauliflower wont be on the market until the beginning of April, and that's if there's winter cauliflower available. The first summer cauliflower won't be around until mid May. The Dutch cauliflower area is comparable to last year. Nothing drastic has happened as far as that is concerned.

"The prices have been reasonably stable for the last two weeks, at a level around 6/6.50 Euro for the French and around 7 Euro for the Spanish cauliflower. Before this the prices were at a slightly lower level," says the open ground vegetable specialist of the Best Fresh Group. "These are reasonable prices, but we need them. The sales are mainly finding their way to the markets abroad, as the countries around us know how to find the French and Spanish cauliflower too. I foresee a stable market for the next few weeks," concludes Robert Vogel.
