Dominican Republic: Government buys pineapple seeds from Costa Rica

The government announced the purchase of several million high genetic value pineapple seeds from Costa Rica to be used in the project farming of said product at Cevicos, province of Sanchez Ramirez, with a funding of RD $ 80 million.

President Danilo Medina announced the implementation of the project during a surprise visit to Cevicos pineapple producers, where he promised to finance the planting of a variety of high performance of the crop, through the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA).

As part of the preparations for the project, a technical commission travelled to Costa Rica, where they observed and evaluated the product's variety to be cultivated in the new project, which will benefit hundreds of families.
