Netherlands: Marks & Spencer back in Holland

British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) will make a return to Holland this year. The department store will open an outlet in the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam at the beginning of April, as was confirmed by several sources. Job Agency Randstad is currently looking for employees for the store in Amsterdam, which will likely consist of a supermarket and an E-boutique for various clothing brands.

Until 2001, Marks & Spencer had shops in the Amsterdam Kalverstraat, the Meir in Antwerp and The Hague. That same year, M & S, however, decided to cease activities in continental western Europe. Closing the stores was particularly due to problems in the UK. At M & S in the Netherlands, where food was sold, two hundred people worked.
