Last Wednesday, Uvasdoce, a producer, exporter and importer of table grapes, celebrated at 12:12 in the afternoon to commemorate its 12th anniversary, coinciding with the date 12/12/12.
During the event a special donation of 20,000 packs of grapes for New Year's Eve was made to the Food Bank, for them to be given to families in need.
"I would like to thank you all for your company in this very special day for us. I am full of hope and excitement, and this hope comes from the work, dedication and good-will of everyone at Uvasdoce, which helps us keep growing every day.
There is also hope for the people in most need. We want them to recover the excitement for this special celebration, and because of that, we decided to donate 20,000 packs of our lucky grapes to the Food Bank, so that everyone can make their wishes on that magical night," said Alfredo Miralles, manager of Uvasdoce, during the event.
During the last few months, this firm from Alicante, Spain has run a charitable campaign called 'La Magia del 12' (The Magic of 12), in which for every wish posted on Facebook, Twitter or mail, the firm pledged to donate lucky grapes to the families in most need at the moment.
Uvasdoce plans to continue enlarging the donation for every message received before New Year's Eve, with a message, photo or video on Facebook
facebook.com/Uvasdoce or Twitter (@Uvasdoce), by post or by e-mail
([email protected]). For every wish, grapes will be donated to one family.
"On behalf of the Food Bank I would like to thank Uvasdoce for this donation, because many families who would not have had the chance to eat the grapes on 31 December will now be able to. With Uvasdoce's donation, I am sure every household in need will receive them. Many thanks," said Ramón García, president of the Food Bank.

The grape producer wanted to celebrate an anticipated New Year's Eve at 12:12 in the afternoon; at that time, the hosts of the event made a 'live' connection with Madrid's Puerta del Sol to welcome the anticipated new year. Previously, Uvasdoce had handed out packs with lucky grapes, cava and other New Year's Eve traditional items among the more than 300 people assisting.
The firm also gave away two prizes in two draws for both its followers in social networks as well as its clients, consisting in 12 free dinners on 31 December, for the two winners and five of their friends, in a Meliá hotel of their choice.
After the strokes of the clock, cocktails and some creative appetisers were served with grapes as their main ingredient.
