NZ: Pak 'n' Save still cheapest supermarket

Pak'n'Save has won the title of New Zealand's cheapest supermarket for the 12th year in a row.

Consumer's annual mystery shopper survey found Pak'n'Save's prices were at least seven percent lower than its closest competitor.

New World and Countdown compete fiercely for second place - New World comes out on top in Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin, while Countdown is cheaper in Hawke's Bay and Wellington.

However, Consumer points out the downside of Pak'n'Save is that it doesn't carry the wide range of brands and pack sizes New World and Countdown do.
