Juan Guerra Ochoa, Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, announced that he considers the initiative from Sinaloa tomato producers to increase the price of tomatoes for the United States a good initiative to end the dumping conflict.
He also argued that the quality of Mexican tomatoes will ensure their competitiveness, even if the reference price increases between 18 and 25%, which could reduce sales.
The secretary also stressed the importance of building a cargo airport in Sinaloa. Guerra Ochoa stated that "we have also mentioned the need for a cargo airport. This is working for El Bajío, which is shipping berries to Europe, so it is important for us to discuss the project with the Secretary of Communications and Transport and to start conducting studies and work. It is a most reasonable request."
