DMA Solutions knows produce
Growing and marketing fresh produce is different from marketing any other product. Because it's such a particular business, Dan'l Mackey Almy, founder of DMA Solutions, believes her marketing firm is well-positioned to serve the produce industry.
DMA Solutions is a full service marketing firm based in Dallas, Texas. Mackey Almy founded the firm after years of working in the produce industry, and she believes that experience allows DMA to help companies reach consumers.
“What we provide is experience,” said Mackey Almy. “A lot of times, because our industry is so unique, there's a learning curve when working with a marketing firm,” she said. But because she comes from a produce background and has built a team of experienced marketers, there's less of a learning curve with DMA.
“I think the number one thing that distinguishes us is the fact that we understand fresh produce,” she added. “While marketing practices can be applied to most products, the uniqueness of fresh produce presents different challenges. Our knowledge and our abilities help us navigate those challenges.”
One of the challenges which has not been exclusive to the produce industry has been the global recession. But even there, Mackey Almy believes that knowing the industry can go a long way.
“I don't think produce is recession-proof, but I do think it's recession-resilient,” she said. “The great news for produce is that we're not selling a product that people don't often buy. People may choose to scale down or make different choices, but they will continue to eat.” Knowing that can help inform marketing choices in order to grow consumption.
That commitment to growing overall consumption, rather than looking at the business as a zero-sum game, is another hallmark of DMA Solutions.
“We want the bar to be raised,” said Mackey Almy. “We share our findings and knowledge openly on our blog The Core, and that also sets us apart. We're committed to raising the bar in fresh produce marketing and increasing consumption of fresh produce.”
