Netherlands, UK and Spain top destination for Brazilian fruits

According to data from IBRAF, The Netherlands consolidated its position as the leading export destination for fruit from Brazil in 2011 where 256,244.239 tons of fruit representing FOB USD 251,287.872. In order of importance, followed by the United Kingdom to which 115,553,841 kg were exported of Brazilian fruit which represented USD FOB 119,291.933 and Spain, the United States and Germany are on the list.




Although the major export destinations of Brazilian fruit are in Europe, in Latin America, Uruguay and Argentina stand out as the main recipients of the Brazilian fruit. In total, Brazil exported in 2011, 681,268.286 tons of fruit representing USD FOB 633,639,942.




From January to May of 2012 apples were consolidated as the main Brazilian fruit export which has recorded 53,942.078 tons representing USD FOB 36,579,349. Then followed the melons representing 52,999.125 tons USD FOB 35,108,688 and 28,683.983 tons mangoes which accounted for USD FOB 34,131,784. Although it has exported more quantity of lemons than mangoes that will give during the first 5 months of 2012. Mangoes have registered higher earnings with more attractive price. In order of importance is the export of Brazilian papayas and bananas.
