Asda creates 450 jobs in Northern Ireland

Asda has started recruitment for 450 staff at its new store in Portadown. The new range of roles includes both full and part-time jobs in the 24-hour store, which is set to open in November this year.

It was thought that the new store would mean the creation of only 350 jobs, however, Employment Minister Stephen Farry has welcomed the unexpectedly high number of jobs as "good news for jobseekers across mid-Ulster."

He went on to say that "This is a substantial number of jobs being created by an international company and is excellent news for the local economy. Asda deserves praise for their commitment to not only create jobs but invest in staff too."

The new outlet will the 17th Asda supermarket in Northern Ireland.
