Peru anticipates more exports to EU

Peru says that it expects to do more trade with the EU after signing a new trade pact. The government of the country says that agreement is more important than previous trade deals signed with the US and China.

Last year Europe was the biggest destination for Peru's exports, taking 18% of the total, worth $8.4 billion. as a result of the deal it is expected that this will soon exceed $13 billion.

Amongst the exports expected to increase as a result of the deal are asparagus, grapes and olives, which will not gain preferential tariff rates.
