In Guatemala, as a result of the rains and the impact of climate, pathogens are affecting mini vegetable plantations. Currently, producers and exporters are trying to combat the presence of pests in plantations through the application of various pesticide products.
Producers expect plantations to still be affected by this phenomenon until
summer arrives (about 4 months), when the rains stop and the incidence of pests can be controlled much more effectively.

"Although the volume of production is normal, quality has been affected by the pests," a Guatemalan mini vegetable exporter explains. Currently, the mini vegetable production in Guatemala is in low season and it is expected that in September the season will be stronger, at which time it is expected for the climate to be ideal for the production of mini vegetables and high season to extend until February 2013.
