Canada: McCain temporarily closing potato plant

McCains is temporarily closing one of its plants in New Brunswick as the result of a potato shortage.

The facility in Grand falls will shut down one of its two production lines this Sunday and the other on July 1st.

The shut down will affect about 120 workers, though around 30 of them will be transferred elsewhere for the duration.

The company says the remaining workers will go through training until the plant reopens.

It is though the plant will reopen when the potato harvest begins, either in late August or early September.
