UK: Tesco selling locally grown strawberries

Texco stores in Essex are going to be selling strawberries grown by World famous, Tiptree based jam makers, Wilkin & Sons, for the first time.

Anton Thurgood, farm commercial manager from Wilkin & Sons, said most of the fruit they grow goes into making preserves.

He said: "Many of our customers also want the fresh fruit we grow so we were delighted when Tesco agreed to offer customers the range of Tiptree fruit."

Caroline Bartrop, Tesco’s regional marketing manager for local sourcing, said: "Our customers say they like to know they’re buying produce that’s been grown locally so we are delighted to be working with Wilkin & Sons to offer their Tiptree Strawberries in 12 of our Essex stores."
