Turkey: Cold chain training program for Moldovan entrepreneurs

The World Food Logistics Organization organized from 14-22 March a practical hands on training tour in Turkey for Moldovan entrepreneurs on behalf of USAID/ACED

The goal of this 7-day customized program in Istanbul and Antalya was to educate Moldovan cold store operators and equipment suppliers and increase their capability to identify the most appropriate technologies and equipment needed for improving the shelf life and maintaining the quality of the selected fruit commodities like table grapes, apples, stone fruit, etc.



This study tour was designed as well to give Moldovan suppliers an opportunity to network and acquire the necessary tools to implement better post-harvest techniques, as means to further contributing to cold chain development in Moldova.

A variety of companies, active throughout the cold chain for fruits was visited like growers, sorting/packing stations, wholesalers, cold stores and equipment suppliers for instance G2M, Cantek, Gunesler, Verita, Alanar,Meyvacilar,Haspak etc. The Loder cold chain conference in Istanbul was part of the education program as well.

The tour was guided by Taner Atlatirlar (Frigonetwork Turkey) and Theo van Sambeeck (ColdstoreExpertiseCenter.com Netherlands).
