One of Russia's largest food clusters, X5 Retail Group, will visit Peru in March next year looking for suppliers of avocados, mangoes, citrus fruits, pomegranates, asparagus and grapes, as they want to buy them directly from Peruvian producers, reported the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
The well-known supermarket group has annual sales in excess of $10,000 million in eight marketing points in Russia.
The first time the food company approached Peru was last September, during a forum for food importers. This meeting, held in the framework of the Peru Culinary Week in Moscow, counted with the participation of representatives of a group of national firms and the ambassador of Peru in Russia, Carlos Velasco.
Mincetur explained that delegates from a number of national food companies later visited the Russian capital, including: Fundo Sacramento, Grupo Huamaní, Ecoandino, Siagro and Greenland, which participated in the international exhibition, World Food Moscow, one of the most important events for the food and beverage industry.
The Commercial Office of Peru in Moscow (OCEX Moscow) is working on the development of various promotional activities to attract the interest of Russian companies in Peruvian food after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and Peru.
OCEX Moscow will continue in its search to identify more suppliers to meet the demand of the X5 Retail Group.
