Vegetable, potato, and onion growers will have the opportunity to learn about the latest breakthroughs and insights from R&D levy-funded projects during the Annual Vegetable Industry Seminar (AVIS), supported by Hort Innovation. This industry event will be held in Brisbane on 4 June, just ahead of the formal opening of Hort Connections 2025, the Southern Hemisphere's largest horticulture industry conference, which runs from 4–6 June at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
AVIS is convened annually to showcase emerging innovations and developments from industry R&D levy-funded projects. The seminar focuses on enhancing farm productivity and profitability while offering professional development opportunities for growers.
With funding available for vegetable levy payers to attend, AVIS is a chance for growers to see their R&D levies in action. Attendees will hear the latest expert insights on topics such as future-proofing farms, hi-tech weed management, smart farming, boosting vegetable consumption, pest and disease control, and more. AVIS 2025 will also feature a dedicated PotatoLink Forum, focusing on paddock soil health and crop protection best practices.
Ausveg CEO Michael Coote stated: "As growers across the country continue to face challenging business conditions, a focus on enhancing farm productivity to support future business viability is increasingly crucial. AVIS 2025 is a key opportunity for growers to learn about the latest innovations flowing from levy-funded R&D projects and to consider adopting these breakthroughs to benefit their own farms and businesses."
Hort Innovation CEO Brett Fifield added: "Utilising grower levies and Australian Government contributions, Hort Innovation continues to invest in a rich array of industry R&D projects aimed at addressing the needs, issues, and challenges of growers. Leading into Hort Connections, AVIS 2025 is an important showcase and an ideal setting to explore the practical applications and real-world benefits of these important investments on behalf of growers."
