7 out of 10 cucumbers exported by Spain come from Almeria

Almeria's cucumber exports decrease by 21 million kilos

Almeria is Spain's largest cucumber exporting province, accounting for 73.22% of the country's cucumber exports. However, Almeria's cucumber exports have fallen by 21.53 million kilos this campaign, as reflected in the data prepared by Hortoinfo from the Estacom statistical service, as the province went from exporting 519.67 million kilos of cucumber in the 2019-2020 campaign to 498.14 million in the 2020-2021 campaign.

Between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2021, Almeria's cucumber exports totaled 452.69 million euro and had an average price of € 0.91/kg.

Almeria was followed by Granada in this campaign as this province exported 65.28 million kilos of cucumbers, i.e. 9.61% of the Spanish total, for 69.74 million euro and an average price of € 1.07/kg.

Valencia ranked third with 39.98 million kilos worth 52.34 million euro and an average price of € 1.31/kg.

Murcia ranked fourth after exporting 19.18 million kilos for 8.61 million euro and an average price of € 0.97/kg this season.

Barcelona ranked fifth with 13.2 million kilos of cucumber exported for 9.22 million euro and an average price of € 0.7/kg.

Another province that traditionally exports cucumber is Las Palmas, which exported 11.61 million kilos of cucumbers for 8.66 million euro and an average price of € 0.75/kg in this campaign.
