Chandigarh airport: New cargo facility to be operational by year-end

According to senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader professor Prem Singh Chandumajra, a new cargo facility will become operational at the Chandigarh airport in Mohali by the end of the year. Through this facility, the region will become a hub for the export of fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Prof Chandumajra said he had taken up the issue with Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who had assured that the cargo facility was under construction and would be completed by the end of the year.

The SAD leader said the new 12,127 m2 facility would encourage the export of vegetables, fruits and flowers to the Middle East immediately and other parts of the world depending on the augmentation of flights from the international airport.
