Agricola Guidi

SusiSole - the new brand for plums from Romagna

SusiSole plums from Agricola Guidi will become available in early September 2021. The two varieties on sale will be Angeleno and October Sun.

"After a fabulous year for apricots, this will be the first year our plum orchards in the Forlì plain area will be truly productive. We are focusing entirely on flavor," explains Roberto Guidi, son of founder Giancarlo.

To obtain such good results, Guidi implements production methods that aim at low yields per hectare to achieve higher grades and Brix levels. "Lower volumes but a higher quality: we will halve quantities per hectare to guarantee excellent-quality fruits that meet consumer expectations."

50 hectares of plums have started producing, approximately 70% of which of the Angeleno variety. The two premium lines will be SusiSole and Terra di Romagna.

Red apricots at €3/kg
2021 has been a fabulous year for Albisole (yellow) and Rubysole (red) apricots. 20% of volumes - the late varieties - are still to be harvested.

"We have obtained a high-quality product thanks to the weather and to precise agronomic techniques. Red apricots reached €3/kg on average. We still have fruits with an excellent shelf-life and sales will continue until early-October. What is more, we exported around 30% of the production this year."

Processed products and packaging
Another thing that was new this year was the processed product line, which included dried apricots, juices and jams, which will make up for the lack of fresh produce in winter. "The packaging was also improved and made more appealing and identifiable. To highlight the Terra di Romagna brand, the new cardboard crates include photos of some of the most representative towns in Romagna starting with Roncofreddo, which is where our historical headquarters are located."
