The value of Chinese fruit export was around 3.25 billion USD, which is an increase of 8.7%. Chinese fruit consumption greatly expanded in the last few years. Fruit import and export is a very lively trade. China is responsible for more than 6% of the global fruit trade. Chinese fruit import first broke the record of 10 billion USD in 2020, when the value of Chinese fruit import reached 10.26 billion USD. Data so far suggests that China will easily break last year's record and set a new record.

Data also shows that Shenzhen was the largest port in terms of fruit import. The city imported a total of 1.03 million tons of fruit in the first half of 2021. That is an increase of 10.1% compared to the same period last year. The overall value of this import volume was 15.19 billion yuan [2.35 billion USD]. The growth in import volume and value primarily came from the imports of cherries, grapes, and oranges.
