Egypt: January to May agricultural exports up 250,000 tons YoY

The Ministry of Agriculture has released a report indicating that the amount of agricultural exports between January 1 and May 26 were higher by 250,000 tons compared to the same period in 2020. Among the top exports were potato, onion, strawberry, pomegranate, sweet potato, green beans, beetroots, guava, bell pepper, mango, garlic and grapes, entering some 160 markets.

Apart from this, 8,500 tons of peach and 6,500 tons of watermelon were exported to the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia, Romania, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Libya, and Iraq.

Egypt’s non-oil exports increased 11 percent during the first four months of 2021, reaching $9.8 billion, compared to about $8.85 billion during the same period of 2020, according to Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea.
