The Agency for the Regulation and Control of Phytosanitary and Animal Health (Agrocalidad), an entity attached to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), has certified 2,800 kilograms of pitahaya produced in the province of Pastaza so it can be exported to Hong Kong and Malaysia. The fruit was certified for export after the inspection of the Ecoamazonic Natural Collection Center, in the Simon Bolivar parish.
1,500 kilograms will be sent to Hong Kong and 1,300 kilograms will be shipped to Malaysia. In total, 23 producers will be able to export their production complying with the requirements of each international market.
Pitahaya is one of the 25 products that the productive reconversion strategy promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock prioritizes.
