"First Turkish apples arrive in Thailand, a historic moment!"

On Sunday 27th of December the Antwerpen Express arrived from Mersin, Turkey at Laem Chabang, Thailand. On this vessel was the first container of apples from Turkey to Thailand, a historic moment!

Turkey is an up and coming apple producing country, improving their quality and logistics and growing in terms of volume every year. With Thailand opening its borders, more opportunities will arise for Turkey to set its footprint in Asia. Thailand is one of Aartsen Asia’s 15 distribution markets where we do year-round supply of the whole range of fruits. Daily imports of apples, grapes, citrus, cherries, blueberries and many other products and exotics from over 250 growers in over 40 different countries of origin.

Team of Aartsen's partner TT Inter Fruit.

Aartsen Asia has been working together with their partner Anadolu Etap on many products including apples, cherries, stone fruits and pomegranates for many years in various markets. Months of preparation have been done to finally arrange this first container of Turkish apple into Thailand. Customs clearance happened on Sunday 27th of December and the container arrived in the cold storage late the following Tuesday evening. The fruit arrived in good condition which is promising for the remainder of the Turkish apple season! "We are proud of Anadolu as our partner."

"We planned to distribute the fruit via multiple channels to get good feedback and to see the reaction of different market segments. Think of wholesale, retail, and sales via fruit shops. Till now the feedback is good and we try to establish a good basis for future distribution."

"We hope this is the start of a new era in the apples business. As Aartsen we currently distribute apples from multiple countries into Thailand as well as many other countries in South East Asia. Main origins are the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey, and Portugal. The opening of this new gateway is a very positive addition to our vast supply of apples. You grow your products and we will keep growing your markets! Nonstopfresh teamwork, together we grow."
