First export volume of Chinese pomelos set sail for US

On December 3, the first volume of honey pomelos, weighing 120 tons, left from Pinghe, Fujian for the United States, marking the first export of this fruit from Pinghe and indeed China to the US. In April of this year, the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement about honey pomelos from Pinghe gaining access to the United States.

It is reported that since 2003, 93 export bases have been established for this fruit, and it has been exported to more than 40 countries and regions such as Southeast Asia, the EU, and Russia, with the annual export volume reaching over 150,000 tons and the production value reaching about one billion yuan.

Processing plant

At present, Pinghe has a planted area of 700,000 mu, production of 1.3 million tons, a direct production value of 5 billion yuan, an inclusive production value of over 10 billion yuan, and a regional public brand value of more than 22 billion yuan. It is the best national county-level pomelo brand and ranks top in China in planted area, production, production value, market share, and export volume.
