80% of Vietnamese dragon fruit is exported to China

In order to increase the 2019 total fruit exports to USD 3.6 billion, Vietnam's fruit production and export industries are gearing up to develop high-quality growing areas and provide convenience for fruit processing and export, export market expansion, and the efforts of improving the status of Vietnamese fruits in the international market. If the above goals were achieved, the fruit industry would become one of the top agricultural industries in Vietnam.

Fruit from Vietnam is available in 60 countries and regions around the world with an average annual growth rate of 15%. In order to maintain good growth, the industry is striving to diversify the varieties that it offers.

Data from the Plantation Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam show that dragon fruit accounts for 50% of the total export value of fruit sold to countries around the world. The total acreages dedicated to dragon fruit in Vietnam are 49,000 hectares, ranking first in the world. Dragon fruit from this country is sold to 40 countries and regions, among which, 80% of the total volume is exported to China.
