Export volumes already reach 5,000 tons

Peruvian avocado exports to China increase by 62%

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, through Senasa, the region of Ayacucho region, in the south of the country, has exported 5 thousand tons of Hass avocados to China.

The main production area in the Ayacucho region is the Torobamba Valley, followed by the Huanta-Luricocha Valley and the Vilcashuaman-Chincheros production zone.

Even though the export season goes from January to June, the quantity that has already been sent exceeds by 62% the volume sent to the Asian market in the same date of the year 2018.

The Minagri Agrarian Health Authority is in charge of certifying the production sites, the sealing of the vehicles that transport the cargo to the processing plants, and the phytosanitary certification for export.

In order to comply with the requirements demanded by China in this sanitary field, SENASA specialists carry out phytosanitary inspection in the farms and sample 2% of the lot to verify that the product is free of the quarantine pests that prevent it from being exported, such as the fruit fly and the Stenoma catenifer moth.
