Asparagus season kicks off in the Hauts-de-France

Asparagus has been available for two months in the Vimeu and the season looks promising. This vegetable is generally produced in the south of France or in Alsace. A difficult culture which requires intense manual labor. The asparagus must be manipulated one by one to be harvested. Additionally, they must always be covered by a tarp, as they cannot stand the light.

The hard work pays off since the sales are good and new generations are leaving the canned vegetable to buy fresh and local asparagus.
