Banana production areas in Yunnan and Laos suffer from hailstorms

Jinping County in Yunnan was surprised by hailstorms on the morning of March 19th, 2019. The hailstorms formed in the high-altitude region of Jinping County and their impact was severe. Fortunately, most banana production areas in Jinping County are located at low altitude and in the valleys. The damage from hailstorms is therefore relatively small in banana plantations.

Banana production areas in China's southwest suffer from extreme weather when the seasons turn. The likelihood of hailstorms and hurricanes is significant. People in the industry explain that this hailstorm is quite severe, but the banana plantations did not suffer much. In addition, the banana production season is almost over. The hailstorm will therefore have very little impact on the price of bananas in China's southwest.
