Citronex has built banana ripening chambers in Timosoara, city located in west Romania.
"This location is not accidental. From Timisoara we have easy access also to Hungary and Serbia. From now on we are more close to our customers," explains Marek Szulc, Managing Director of the company.
The new distribution center is equipped with high-tech 26 double ripening rooms “Penthouse System” (44 pallets each) and 216 pallets storage rooms for green banana and pineapples.
“We have the biggest ripening center in Romania at our disposal. Every week we are able to ripe 75,000 cartons of bananas. We will bring to Romania our banana knowledge and experience we have gain already during last 20 years in the business. Our big advantage is high quality and full control over the supply chain, which is very important for supermarkets, which are our main clients” – says Marek Szulc.
Citronex has a much larger distribution centers in Poland equipped with 200 ripening rooms. In 2018 this family company imported 13 millions cartons (18.50kg net). Plan for 2019 is 15% increase.
In addition to bananas, the company is the biggest polish tomatoes producer with 60Ha of greenhouse equipped with artificial light and heating for winter production. Citronex also has a transport company and a network of gas stations and hotels.
